ADVERTISING OUR RESOURCES

Oub readers will bo gratified to learn that Taranaki is not to have the invidious distinction of being the only province in New Zealand unrepresented officially at the International Exhibition. It would be little short of a commercial calamity were our scenic attractions, our wonderful and unique mineral deposits, and the fertility of our soil, not to be demonstrated on an occasion when every other district in the colony is putting forth its best elforts to advertise its attractions. For the apathy that has up till now bren shown in exhibition matters in this proviucc, the exhibition authorities have been in a large measure respcnslble. The information ~f forded by then has been of tho most mcague description, and were it not for the free and un solicited notices that have from time to time been given by the newspapers oC tho province, tho public might be almost in ignorance of the holding of the exhibition. If the samples of exhibition administrative ability that have reached us m Taranaki are reHectiye of the general management, then we have no hesitation in saying justice has notbeen done to the great project. There is, however, no doubt that the Exhibition is going to be very representative, and will attract a very large number of sightseers, aud wj cat,not alfoid to lose the opportunity of displaying our wares. Now that space has been definitely applied for, we have no doubt the representative bodies in the province will afford every assistance iu making the display as fully representative of our resources as possible. Assisted by the various private oxliibits already arranged for, the Taranaki display should be as attractive, if not in quantity, at least in quality, as the dispby of any district in the colony.
