CENSUS RETURNS.
PBB FBBSS ASSOCIATION TisiAHiT, May 27. The census returns for Timaru borough wore completed to-day. The total population is 7608, an increase of 1184 on 1901. Reckoning in part of the Glcniti riding of the Levels country, constituting a suburb of the borough, gives the population of tho whole town at about 9600. The population of Waimate borough is 1637, an increase of 278. Other returns arc not yet oompletc, except MacKcnzio country, with a total of 1938, an increase of 306, In Timaru borough, inhabited dwellings increased from 1227 to 1465, with 14 empty and 11 building.
