There is too much rough play on the football fluids in tliis district, although it is only fair to state that the roughness is confined to two or three fairly' prominent players. One or two glaring instances were noticed in the StarTukapa senior match on Thursday afternoon, and a couple of players were warned. Bough play must bp stopped, and the referees have the remedy in their own hands. Deliberate rough handling of an opponent should make a man liable to " go up " for a term of years.

In a recent junior future at New Plymouth, a local player, according to his own boast, pulled both ends of the mauitache of an opposing (and then fallen) forward, and als6 " plumped t.vo 'ibeauts' on to another chap's dial." Tue acts themselves are 'bad enough, and stamp the perpetrator as unfit to take the field in a civilised community; but to boast of them openly and with impunity shows a weakness somewhere.
