At Stratford on Tuesday I held my ii.'st H.oui, hide, and tallow sale, and in view of the fact that notice of the sale was very short, under three weeks, and that this sale was the first of its kind held in Taranaki, the catalogue of 350 skins, 350 1 i 'cs, 12 casks tallow, and a few bags tn.l bales of wool may be considere4 very satisfactory. The whole catalogue me l ; with keen competition, an 4 all consignments offered were sold. The success of this sale, co.ii.ncncrd as it \v s under somewhat adverse ciri.' nstaiKes, is sufficient evidence tl'at -an institution of the kind is required in Ta;' laki, and I shall henccfurdi hclJ regular sales every four weeks. TL-o convenience of clients, both wnlors and purchasers, is best studied by holding the sales at Stratford, because of its central position. I trust that ere long Taranaki will have a sale established which will be large enough to attract buyers from all parts of the colony. Ti.e pri.-es obtained on Tuesday were .very satisfactory. 1 quote: Well matted fleece 9d, black fleece 7Jd, dead B£d, crutcbinffs 7Jd Ito Bd, locks s.|d. Skins '• Butchers'
