"THE FROWNS OF FATE."
MR SEDDON'S ANNUITIES SCHEME. Sydney, May 21.
The " Sydney Morning Herald," commenting on Mr Seddon's proposal for the establishment of national annuities, says: —That the intentions of the author are admirable few will deny. As to whether they are practicable, or whether the same ends could not be better served by other means, we must have more details to enable us to form a definite opinion. That the task is not an.; easy one Mr Beddon will probably be the first to acknowledge. Poverty is generally the natural consequence of idleness and thriftlessness. bat too frequently also it is the sole reward of a long life of economy and prudence. If Mr Seddon can do anything to remove the frowns of fate in such cases he will have accomplished much, and will indeed be able to point with honest pride to this as a copingstone to his many good works.
