Building operations arc fairly brisk here just now. The foundation stone of Mr Maurice's fine new residence in the main street, opposite tho Post Office, was laid yesterday, and there are three other houses in the course of erection. There are a fow building sites for sale at present, and they should soon find purchasers.

Mr James, the well-known prospector, is roportcd to bo doing very well up in the Kaitake ranges. Ho has found sonio very favorable quartz. Between oil, gold, and ironsand Taranaki will soon bo booming ahead. The farmers around horo are beginning to go for. their holidays. The dairy factories only open on alternate days, and most of the cows are drying ofE.

Two or three of the farms on tho Potone road liavo changed bands. Mr Raby has sold his farm to Mr Jackson.

While on a yisit to the Durham road, about six miles from Inglewood, last week, I was shown oil flowing along the water channels all around the vicinity. The district is evidently one that would bear prospecting.
