Tlie montlily meeting of the Turanaki Laud Board was held on dayNEW APPLICATIONS. Tlie following applications received sinee last meeting for land wero approved : —Cash: W. Van Ash, section I. block 1, Kapara, 1891 acres (provisional title issued, the improvements required by the Act having already been effected). Lease in perpetuity: [£. snow and W. Olsen, as tenants in common, section 5, block 7, Aria, 1350 acres; G. N. Christian, section 1, block 8, Waro, 677 acres. Optional right of purchase: Jas. Jones, jnr., sectiou 1, ulock 3, Opaku, 1026 acres.

The following improved farm settlers appealed against the forfeiture of their holdingsJ. Jams, section 8, block 10, Ohura ; C. Lovett, section 4, olock 14, Ohura. Mr .J. M. Murray waited -on the Board with referene; to ih'e iion-resi-lence of his wife on section l(i, b'lork 3, and section 5, block I, >.'(iiitiniaru.— The Board granted a further extension -)f three months, to be considered linai.
Other cases were dealt, with as follows': S. D. Pope, section 5, block 'J. Upper Waitara, forfeited for non-resi-dence; R. F. Ward, section 4, block S, Afia, forfeited for non-improvement; tt. Johnston, section 8, block fi, Aria, forfeited for non-improvement ; F. ft, ff, King, section 1, block (i, S. W King, section 4, block 7, and W. H. King, section 9, block 11, Omona, who are non-resident, were granted a final extension of six months; 1). L. A. Ast bury, section 10, block 1)', Oinona, who resided off and on doing improvements, was given six months' time. The explanation of G. E. W. and 41. McMullan, section 8, block 6, Pp. per Waitara (non-improvement). A BPOTSWOOD CASE.
An application was made by R. T. Clark for additional land upon a temporary grazing tenancy at Spotswood. —The 13oard will recommend to the Minister that the interest of the lessee in sections 58 and 60, block 4, Paritutu, be forfeited.
RANGER 3 IIfSrECTIOX. The assistant ranger (Mr J. W. Thurston) reported on the inspection of 41 holdings, comprising an area of 19,906 acres. Under the conditions, £3577 worth of improvements were required, whilst £6917 worth had been effected. Twenty-two selectors were resident, though none of these were required to reside. Eight holders had not effected sufficient improvements—'Those who. have not complied with the Act are to be notifieil to explain their reasons for not doing so.
GENERAL. The Board could notsee its way to grant the application of A. MeKinley for sec 3, bl 11, Ohura, in exchange for sec 12, bl 2, Aria, forfeited by him. F. R. Wilton wrote declining to execute his license of sec 4, bl 5, Pouatu, as the land is not what he thought it was.—The section is declared forfeited.
The applications of owners adjoining for part of Nobbs' line, which the Board had previously resolved to sell to W. L. Fitzherbert were considered.- The Board decided to rescind the previous resolution, aud to sell the land to the adjoining owners after a survey and readjustment o£ valuations have been made, the cost of survey to be added.
The case of sec 73 ibl 10 Pouatu, which is in arrear and has been forfeited, was considered.—Action was deferred to next meeting; in the meantime the mortgagee will be written to regarding the rent.
li. J. Johnson made application for a lease of the cemetery reserve in Mnngaelm village.— Referred to the raugcr for report. B. H. Campbell asked for a new license of. section 2 block 16, Omona, to replace on* that he had lost. A new license will be granted upon payment of the usual fee of £1 Is,
F. AY. Myers applied for temporary grazing on sections 1, 16 and 17, block 4, Ngatiiuaru.—The Board did not sec its way to grant the application (ico. Cornish asked for a renewal oE his lease of sections 4s and 411, Huiakama Suourban.—A year to tenancy will be granted to Mr Cornish in the terms of the ranger's report. Mr Riddle applied for ;ui extensi::,, of his lease of sections 1 to 5, 7, ~ and 13, AVaihi Keserye.—The lioam agreed to give a yearly tenancy to Mr Kiddliyn the terms recommended by the ranger, every care being exercised to maintain the improvements. A. M. Gill applied for scciion !>, block 2 Heao to be added to her holding section 11, block 2, Heao, to the rough character of the latter land.— The llanger was instructed to report. C. -f. liyan was granted permission to run a temporary fence through section 12, block 3, Ohura, on condition that no injury is done to Crown properties. The Commissioner submitted a scheme for the disposal of part of the land adjoining the south boundary of the Terrace Und special settlement, Omona survey district, to adjoining holders.—The matter was lelt in the hands of the Commissioner to arrange J the sub-division.
Five mortgages were approved, and the action of the Commissioner in endorsing eight mortgages was confirmed.
