! PBB PBISS AMOCIATIOH. Wblukotoh, May 17. The Minister of Lands, speaking at a presentation to Mr Marchant, Mid the booming of land had proved very injurious during th« last ,few years. Wages had gone up, but the people were no better off, for land booming syndicates were making all the money. He wished they would stop. It would be a good thing for the colony if the/ could be checked, for wherever these syndicates got their hands on a place each boom ensuing was worse than the preceding one. Land in Taranaki hid oeen boomed up to £3O an acre. The land boomers in Wellington Had boomad up the land in the country u well, and the Government had to be very careful in regard to acquiring land for settlement,
