WRITING IN SCHOOLS.

A News representative had a chat with Mr W. E. Spencer, Chief Inspector of Education in Taranaki, and he said there could be no grumbling about Taranaki children's handwriting. He produced at random samples of writing from town and country schools in this district, and certainly there was no fault to find with the work shown. Further proof of the excellence in this department is shown by the fact that several pupils at the West End School, New Plymouth, are high up in the list of winners of prizes offered by Messrs Collins Bros, for competition by scholars in any school whero tho drill's copy-books aro used. Miss Jessie Cockers is second on the list for the colony.
