A MARVELLOUS BOY.

A rrmarkablc story is. being told of an American who, Falling front the top of a chimney to the ground, eighty feet below, calmly sla!k:d out of the hospital to which he was carried none the worse for his adventure. That story (says "St. James's Buiget ") may or may not be true, but m either case it is less remarkable thau one which is reproduced in a " Life of Henry Drummond," published a few years ago by Melrose. A boy was working with several men on the top of a house in Glasgow, fixing up telegraph wires. Tile men finished their work, and loft the boy to snip off the ends of the wires, telling him to carry down the tools when he bad finished. He shinned up the telephone pole, but, benumbed with cold, fell, struck the slate, 111 ;■«'!> mi led into the street far beiinv. in iiis descent he struck a line which was hanging a cross the street. This served to lessen the shock of his fall. The owner of the line saw it and the clothes and the lad all mixed up in the mud together, and hastened off for a policeman. During his absence the boy regained consciousness. He remembered that though lie had come down the tools had not. And, incredible as it may sound, he deliberately c'i nW the ladder, collected the fools from the roof, and carried them down again m the bag. Then it apparently dawned upon him that he had rather a bad time, for he fainted. They carried him to the hospital, and had no difficulty in rendering liioi fit to resume his task, snipping off more wires.
