STRATFORD NOTES.

(From Our Oiva Orespwlent.) Ihe Stratford Co-operative Dairy Factory a 1905-6 season lias been an excellent one. In the auramor months the plant was kept going at high pressure, tho quantity of milk put through being especially large. For the three best months, the daily output averaged 115 boxes of butter, the largest amount for one day being 120 odd bo* js. Fiur hundred, und fifty tons have born shipped, the season's output liavin# previously been sold at, IOJd. At present the concern is only receiving milk on alternate days, tho daily output being about twenty-fivo boxes. It is oxpected that suppliers will be paid at the rate of lod per pound for batter-fat Ninepenoe was the price paid out during the season. A bonus of one-halfpenny per pouud was rooently paid out, and it is expected that a furher bonus of one-halfpenny will be forthcoming Milk supplies fell way very rapidly during March April owing to tho shortage of feed by tho unseasonable weather. Not much mijkmg w ill be done m this locality during the winter months, dairymen preferring to take a spell. One, reason why they arc not too keen on milking is that the cost of production is much hoavior in the winter, and the prices aw not so good, THe Stratford Baoon Compauy has had a fairly successful season, but the number of pigs put through is not expeoted to reach tho number handled last year. The reason given for this, is tuiit outside factories have drawn large supplies from the proviuce, whilst the ' number of pigs grown is not nearly so large. Up to date the factory has re- ' coiyed this season over 2000 pigs. Last season then were about 5000, It is j expected that next year will be a good one for tho bacon factories, aa farmers »t.nd going more thoroughly into hog- , raising, instead of rearing calves. ,
