Tke recently installed water supply is giving entire satisfaction. Fire plugs have been put in all over the borough, and should a conflagration occur, it is considered that there will be no trouble in coping with it. Inglewood footballers are taking their drubbing at the hands of Tukapa on Thursday quite philosphtcally. One member of tho losers was asked for his opinion of the match., and replied; " A man can only laugh. Simon Mynott must have thought he was playing with the ' All Blacks' when he and his team rattled Up 40 odd points against us.
Many years ago there visited Inglewood a magicUantern show. The proprietor of same wanted sqmc gas for his bag to supply the lantern with limelight. He was wondering how he would get over the difficulty when a local identity came to the rescue, and stated that he knew a place where any quantity of gas could be obtained. "Come along with me and I'll fix you up, alright." Arrived at the place of operations a stick was stuck into the earth where gas was in abundance. The mouth of the bag was placed over the hole, and for some time the couple .vaited events. The bag became slightly inflatod but did not seem to fill up as was expected, so they decided to hold a match over the hole, and see if the •jas had goue off. Of course an explosion followed, blowing the gas bag to pieces, whilo the individuals were aimed turtle some yards away. There was no magic-lantern show that evening. The local identity had " fixed up" the proprietor ot the show alright, " up " in the air. The Inglewood branch of the Bank of New South Wales is to have new premises shortly. Tho building will be on a site next the Coffee Palace, and will be built of brick.
A porter at the Inglewood Railway station received a nasty bump on the forehead on Friday afternoon by running into ii'piecc of overhead scantling just as the i p.m. train ran in. Beyond being stunned for several minutes, and a slight cut on the frontal bone, 1 no injury was sustained,
