CARRINGTON ROAD v. INGLEWOOD. The first match of the season was played at Carrington on Thursday, resulting in a victory for the home team by 2 goals to 1, Perham and Marett scoring for Carrington Road, while Hallet was credited with Inglewood's goal. Considering that the match was the first of the fixturos and that there has not been much chaicc for practice of late owing to (the continued bad weather, thp contesting teams seemeil to be in pretty good fettle, the first spell being very fast and a fair amount of combination being shown. Hallet, who played for New Plymouth last season, is a decided acquisition to Inglcwood and would have been very dangerous if his fellow forwards had backed him up bettor. Arthur McEwen was perhaps the best back on his side, while Curtis showed up prominently for Inglcwood. In tho forward division Phillips and Hallet showed up best for luglewood, while the Home forwards played together so well that it would be unfair to single out any particular player for comment. It was a gcod go and promises some stiff brushes later in the season.
