THE GARRISON BAND.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting o£ the Garrison Band was held on Wednesday evening in the Town Hall, thirty-live members being present. Mr T. B. McConnell, bandmaster, presided. The balance-sheet showed .a substantial credit balance, the result of the recent bazaar, in aid of the funds to erect a band-room. The amount expanded during the year was £2lO Is lOd. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted, after a good deal of discussion. Mr W. Coleman, one of the auditors, spoke very highly of the services rendered by the secretary, Mr N. Allen, whose accounts were neatly and very correctly kept up-to-date. I The bandmaster's report complimented the band on its steady work and progress. The report was very carefully compiled, and the useful information contained in it was attentively listened to. Mr Newton Allen was unanimously re-elected secretary, and voted au honorarum of live guineas. The committee will appoint an assistant to share the increasing work. Hie committee will meet at an early date ami r.-vise the rules, with a view to ha-.iag them printed and strictly enforced. The new committee is as follows Sergeant H. Flatt, Lance-Corporal Handley, and Bandsmen Coultliard, Doaovan, Prentice, with the bandmaster and secretary cx-officio. Drum-Major Lister and Bandsman H. Pratt were elected auditors, and Mr Coultliard was re-elected librarian. Mr T. B. McConnell, who was reelected bandmaster amidst applause, was presented with an enlarged photograph of the band, and an honorarium of five guineas. Sergeant Piatt, for the band, made some highly eulogistic reference to the bandmaster, and trusted that his services would long be available.

Votes of thanks were accorded the retiring officers and to the chair, and the meeting closed.
