A BARRACKS TRAGEDY.
Vienna, March 22. A sensational love tragedy is reported from the Austrian naval station at Polu. Herr Schloss, a tradesman in the town, suspected his wife of infidelity, and to put his opinion to the test, told her that he was going away on business for a few days. He returned unexpectedly the .same evening, saying that he had missed his train, and found his wife alone. But after retiring for the night he heard a knock at the front door, and going downstairs found Lieutenant Kohler, whom he had suspected, outside. There was a violent altercation, and when Frau Schloss took part against her husband he struck her in the face, The lieutenant thereupon drew his sword and attacked Herr Schloss so furiously that he iin-1 to escape by jumping out of the I■> .i j.ii- window, injuring himself severely, llis wife and her lover went to the lieutenant's quarters, in which, early in the morning, several shots were heard. When the door was burst opi-n it was found that Lieutenant Koliier had shot the woman dead, and had wounded himself* severely in an attempt to take his own life.
