ALLOTMENT OF BONUSES. PKE MESS ASSOCIATION. Vm.mmiion, May 1. 1 lie triennial actuarial investigation of the Government Insurance Department, due at 1 lie end of 1005, lias been fuiislml, rcsullin;; in a nel cash surplus of £I7<H,UtM, which lias been divided amongst policy-holders, equivalent to additions to the sums assured at death or maturity, amounting to £302,910. The bonus is allotted as a per centage on the sum assured, and previous bonuses m force, and in the general seotion in which the vast majority of assurances are effected. The present bonuses show an increase on those granted three years ago. In the temperance section they are on a slightly lower scale than formerly, but it is explained that this is not necessarily the result of a higher mortality tlmn in the general section, but due to a preponderance of endowment assurances an other exceptional circumstances
