PERSONAL.
We regret to learn that tho wife of the Rev. Mr Bradbury is lying dangerously ill. At the St. Mary's meeting last evening, the Vicar took the opportunity of introducing the Rev, Mr Latter, who has charge of the Henuißell Block portion of the parish. The rev. gentleman was particularly well received.
Mr Walter Monk, the well known theatrical representative, arrived in New Plymouth last night to make arrangements for Mr J. C. Williamson's opera season on the 11th and 12th inst. "Utopia, Limited," and the " Gondoliers " are to bo staged. The teaching staff of I lie Central School, New Plymouth, yesterday presented to Mr W. A. Burnside, who is leaving for Inglewood to fcalfo up the position of headmaster, with a very handsome silver hot water jug, appropriately inscribed. The presentation was mado by Mr Dempsey, the headmaster, who made pleasing and highly eulogistic reference to Mr Burnside's qualifications for his position, whioh included great industry, method, trustworthiness, and capacity for work. Tho departing teacher had known what part he had to play in the school, and hail acted it right well. Whilst expressing his regret, and the regret of the staff at Mr Burnside's leaving, they all congratulated him on his promotion. The recipient responded, mentioning liis very pleasant associations with the school ' and stalf, He ttolfed Mr Dempsey for his advice, and many kindnossos, and the stall! for their uniform courtesy, help, and kindness, and concluded in the hope that the Central School would continue to occupy its great position for tone, manners, discipline, and work,
