The Banking Currency Committee of the American House recommends Congress to permit Government funds to jbc deposited in the National Banks | without security at two per centum. The committee declares the sub-treas-urer's interference with banking business has proved a curse to commerce. AFGHANISTAN AND INDIA. Calcutta, April 27. The Ameer is encouraging the settlement of Indian traders in Afghanistan. Trade yith India has tripled since Sir Louis Dane's mission in 1905. The relations between India and Afghanistan were never better. WESTRALIAN POLITICS.
Perth, April 28. A Ministerial caucus was held, and it was subsequently announced that the Premier had resigned, to succeed Mr James as Agent-General. It is understood Mr Moore, Minister for Lands, becomes Premier, and Mr Keenan, member for Kalgoorlie, joins the Ministry.
