AROUND THE STABLES. [By "Moturoa,"] A visit to a training "establishment is always interesting to a lover of the thoroughbred. I had the pleasure last week of visiting It. Barlow's stables, and found four boxes containing occupants. One could not help noticing how the horses appeared to enjoy their beautifully clean and comfortable quarters, everything being in " apple pie" order. " Bob" lias a very nice compact little place, handy to the racecourse and town. Tha first box contained a 2-ycar-old brown (illy, by Chasseur, out of a tiou'-wester marc. The next one I saw wns a .promising luoking 2-year-old bay filly, by St. Clements, which he intends brcakiim in shortly. Idasa (Seatou Dclavrl—lda) looked i perfect picture, though carrying a fair amount of condition, it is some time now since the man faced the starter, her last sijrcess being in tUe Hawcra Cup last year. However, she has becu accepted for at the meeting this week.

Panguroa also looked well in her comfortable box, having enjoyed a short spell since the Taraaaki meeting. On leaving, my attention was drawn to St. James, enjoying himself in the paddock It will be remembered this gelding raced over hurdles about three years ago.
