At last month's meeting of the Wellington Harbor Board, complaints wore received of shortage of labor on the wharves, resulting in delay in the delivery of goods. The matter was referred to a committee which, af to-day's meeting, recommended tho employment of additional casual labcr. The storage and berthing committee furnished a report to the meeting in which it recommended that (he engineer should report on the works lie considers should be proceeded with, the committee recognising that further storage and berthage accommodation is necessary.' It' is believed that the requirements of tho port will demand during the next two 01* three years an oxpendituro of a quarter of a million to copo with tho increase of trade. It is also believed that the tune has arrived to build wharves with other material than timber.
