A HEAVY PINE. TEB I'IiESS ASSOCIATION. Chmstciiuhcii,'April 26. Sydney Sanderson pleaded not guilty at the Police Court this morning, bofore Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., to a charge of cruelly illtreating a horse by working it with open sores. Constablo Gibson said the horse was at the police yard yesterday and was drawing a load of bricks at least 30cwt in weight. His Worship examined the horse, and said it was absolutely disgraceful that a horse should be worked in such a condition. He intendod to inflict a substantial penalty, nor would he allow mueh time in which to pay it, as he did not wish it to bo merely a monetary obligation. He would inflict a fine of £5 and costs, to bo paid within fortyeight hours.
