The annual meeting of the Central (or North Island) auxiliary of the New Zealand Baptist Union opens to-day at Napier. Mr G. H. Maunder, of New Plymouth, is chairman of the meeting, and, with Mr H, Goodacre, represents the New Plymouth congregation. At the ordinary monthly meeting of the Taraualti Hospital and Charitable Aid Board on Monday, the resignations ol: Nurses Millar (of the consumptive annexe) and M. White, boi.h third year probationers, were accepted, and steps will be taken to fiil the vacancies. Even the average pipe smoker has an affection for his pipes. With " G.B.D.s" such as J.
