General Funston wired at four {hi* ""*j afternoon that there was no ohwge in the progress of the fire. A private telegram two hours later stated the fire was spreading over the crest of Nob Hill, in a northerly direction, towards the Latin Quarter, The latest estimate put the deaths ad fire thousand, and the damage at three hundred million dollars. The National Federation of Churches request all denominations to observe Sunday next as one of special inter, cession for the sufferers.
