LEPPERTON.
(FEOM OUB.OWJf COHUESi'ONDKNT.) Glorious weather favoured our Easter Monday garden party and sports. The whole countsj'sidc turned out in holiday attire, bent on forgetting, for the time, the unforgettable cow, and remembering only how to get most fun. The various officials worked hard to ensure success, and everything went like the proverbial " house-a-lirc." The athletic events were well contested, and, though no records were established, there were 110 sliil'legs or tight bridles. The following are the winners of the chief events : Hop, Step and .lump : W. Matthews. It m Yards -. .1. Potior. Tilling (bicycles!: S. Hail. Milk Suppliers' Uace: H.Cole. Cycle Jioad liacc : 0. Young. Stepping One Chain; T. Morgan (lcli. Jin.) ~22i) lards: A. Cartwright. Tilting (horses): D. Wright. Uescuc IJare : 0. Henwood. lln \ ards: A. Cole. A tug-01-war, twelve a-side, married v. single, provided a keen contest, but the Benedicts were a tritle 100 good. '1 lie concert in the evening was declared the best ever held in ijppperlon. I need only slate that Miss .Nixon, Mr Binniugton, and several other wellknown Xcw Plymouth vocalists contributed items, and that these, together with our best local talent, gave a rare musical treat. Of course, the whole day's jollification was rounded off with the inevitable dance.
