Resolutions were also passed urging the Government to prevent the importation of volunteer uniforms, to remove ell civil and polifcioal disabilities from Civil servants, and to nationalise the marine, coastal and international services, and the Wanganui river service.

LABORS' SOCIALISTIC PROPOSALS.

Ohbistchobch, April 18.

The Labor Conference debated at considerable length the administration of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, and adopted motions asking the Government to so amend the Act as to afford protection to workers who may be engaged in forming a Union, and also to provide for unconditional preference of employment to Unionists, and that all decisions of the Courts should bo given within three months of the filing of a case. A motion was also adopted that when a Conciliation Board recommendation is accepted by all parties to a dispute, such recommendation should have the force of an award of the Court. It was decided to urge the Government to pstablish State clothing and boot factories, flour and woollen mills, bakeries, and iron works and shipbuilding yards. PBOVINCIAL COUNCIL MOTIONS. Auckland, April 18, At a meeting of the Auckland Trades and Labor Council this evening, it was stated that a larger importation of southern flour was being made, apparently with the object of crushing the Northern Mills. The Council passed a resolution recommending all Unions to uso the local manufactured article in preference to the imported. The Council also adopted a suggestion from the Duncdin Tailoresses' Union to urge the Goyernmcut to establish a State clothing factory, aud ordered d telegram to be sent to the Lab„or Confereuce at Cliristchurch on the question.
