On Saturday, Stli inst., I took a walk over the sand hills near the moutli ol the Waiwnkaiho river, and when, opposite Fitzroy, noticed a piece of a shawl and overcoat just above the surface of llie ground. With my stick T removed the sand, a*d found a complete skeleton ; also two iron rings with decayed wood attached, evidently remains of a coffin. Having found similar skeletons, and being acquainted with n dive burial places in Tarauaki, I covered up the remains aud intended to inform the Maoris at Kaiterc of the fad, so tliey could g» aud bury the skeleton. Yesterday my brother and self paid a visit ta the spot, and found someone had bscn there and completed the necessary work.—l am, etc., B. WELIS.
