FITZ-GRAFTON GOES TO INDIA.

Chiiistchuech, April 17. The Canterbury Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting concluded at Biccarton to-day in line weather, although towards the close of the afternoon a cold wind sprang up. The attendance was spialler than yesterday, and the investments were naturally not so large, the total being £9839. There were eighty four investors on the winning double, Cross Battery and Boomerang, which pfiid a dividend of £l6 8s 6d. Of the afternoon's racing the most interesting contest was that between Achilles and Porcelain, the North Island crack winning by a head. Kesults

Autumn Nursery Handicap, 5 furlongs: Eireirbn 1, IvanolC and Franc, dead heat 2. Also started: Lady Handon, Lapland, Stratagem. Fireiron led by two lengths from IvanofE and Franc, who wore a length in front of Stratagem. Time 60 2-sth. Div. £7 16s 6d. Yaldhurst Welter Handicap, 7 furlongs : Pas Seul 1, Antigone 2, Hilarity 3. Also started: Sandy, Ability, Sychem, Koputai, Lady Wayward, Bagpipes, and Assegai. Wen by a length and a half, a head between second and third. Time 1.29 1-oth. Divs. £3 7s 6d and £4 Is. Great Autumn Handicap, li miles: Boomerang 1, Delaware 2, Martian 3. Also started: Starshoot, Convoy, Savoury, Stepdancer, Cannic Chiel, Clanchattan, Makaroff, Beau Seaton and Apollodoris. Boomerang, who was always in a good position, took command rounding the top turn and won a good race by a length, Delaware three-quarters of a length in front of Martian, who was a neck in advance of Starshoot. Fourteenth Challenge Stakes, 7 furlongs : Achilles 1, Porcelain 2, De Witte 3. Field Gun also started. A splendid race. Porcelain took charge soon after the start but at the distance Achilles drew level aud after a great finish won by a head, Pc Wittc four lengths away. Time, 1.27. Div., £1 17s.
Addington Plate, 5 furlongs ■. Alexis 1, Soltykoff 2, Jolly Roger 3. Also started: Heirloom and Haudel. Won easily by three lengths. Time, 6l) 1-5 sec. Diy., £3 9s (3d.
Templcton Handicap, 0 furlongs Signalman 1, Bed Gauntlet 2, Czarevna 3. Also started : Petrovna, Pas Seul, Zetland, Yolodia and Korea. Petrovna refused to leave the mark. Won by three-quarters of a length, a neck between second and third. Time, 1.16 2-5. Divs;, £3 5s 6d and £1 18s.

AUCKLAND MEETING. PEB PBEBS ASSOCIATION. Auckland, April 17. The Auckland Eacing Club's Autumn meeting concluded to-day in ideal weather and m the presence of a good attendance. The stuff of £12,727 passed through the totalisator, making a total of J £41,440 for the thicc days. Results:—
