THE TRADES AND LABOUR CONFERENCE.

PPB FBBSS ASSOCIATION. Chbibtchubch, April 15. The annual conference of the Trades and Labour Councils of New Zealand opened yesterday. Mr W. Hood, of Dunedin, was elected President.

MrD. McLaren (Wellingtoh) submitted the following resolution, wnich, he stated, had been passed by the Wellington Trades and Labour Coun" oil: " That this Council has no confidence in the Arbitration Court as at present constituted, and that it be a recommendation to the Conference that it should consider the matter." Mr McLaren then moved, " That the resolution be referred to the Order Paper Committee, witn instructions to include it on the order paper." Speaking to the motien, he said he considered that before the Conference disbanded it ought to go.into committee and very seriously consider the responsibility placed on the shoulders ot the whole of the delegates, in having to face the situation, which had arisen through the unsatisfactory administration of|tho Arbitration Act. The motion was agreed to, and the Conference adjourned till Tuesday.
