A DISCOURAGING REPORT. FEB PBES9 ASSOCIATION. Chbistchcbch, April 8. At a meeting of the local branch of the Farmers' Union on Saturday, the Chairman, Captain Hewitt, said the Fire Insurance scheme had gone forward little. They had endeavoured to act a legal value placed on the premium rates, but he doubted whether it was worth the paper they were written on. Until that phase of the quostion was settled, he was opposed to going in for great risks. They had secured premiums for £20,000, and had had no losses, but should they have a loss, he did not know where the money was coming from to meet it.
