WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD
At the monthly meeting of llie above Board there were present: Messrs S. Tui'nbiill (chairman), ITollier, and Smith. Correspondence was read:
From the Labor Department, notify ing that Thursday had been appointee closing day for shops. From the Treasury, stating that £2OO, being portion of Wortley roai loan, would be forwarded.
From the Department of Roads, stating that conditions attached to grants could not be altered by the Department.
From the Treasury, objecting to the proposed rating area of Waitara road loan.
The clerk reported that the sum of £3OO had been collected since last meeting, £250 being general rates and £SO special, and that thore was only about £7 outstauding. The Chairman reported that the formation on Cross road, about which there had been complaints, was fairly well done, considering the amount of money availablo. Mr Hellier reported that Mr Cartwright was prepared to. put down six chains of metal on the Corbett road at £4 per chain, and that the settlers had agrcod to do the necessary formation. Mr Wills requested that he be allowed to withdraw his effer re subsidising expenditure on putting down metal on the Lcpper road. The engineer (Mr Orbell) was directed to draw up plans for grading the hill on the Wortley road, and it was decided to hold a special meeting on the 21st insfc. to open tenders for the same.
The special order in connection with Evorett road loan was confirmed.
Accounts amounting to £202 were passed for payment, and the Board rose.
