BARMAID MURDERED AT SURREY HILLb. MURDERER ATTEMPTB SUICIDE. . HIS CONDITION CRITICAL. Received 20, 12.57 a.m. BTDNEV, March 28. A brutal tragedy occurred at Surrey Hills to-night. A man named Biley, whose real name is Sexton, went to his lodging! accompanied by Rose Arnold, a bar. maid, who was a friend of his land* lord. The girl went up to liii room. Shorly after, the ocoupanta of tha house heard several shots.

The door of the room was locked, but on looking through a window, the owner of tho house saw the girl lying on the floor, and the man looking out jhto the street calmly smoking a cigarette.

Jn a few moments further firing was heard;

When the police arrived, they found the woman dead, with four bullet wounds in her body, and her head almost severed by a razor cut. The man was lying by her side with a bullet wound in the jaw and his throat cut, but was alive. He confessed to having committed the act. Jealousy is supposed to be the cause.

The murderer is in a very critical condition,
