AMERICAN EXPRESS COLLISION. FORTY PERSONS KILLED. NUMBERS INCINERATED. SHOCKING DETAILS. Received 18, l.liO p.m. New York, March 18. A west-bound Cnliforninu express collided with a local train at l'ueblo, Colorado. Forty passengers were killed, fifteen of I lie ax being incinerated, aud many were injured. There were numerous thrilling rescues. One mau, wedged iu a window, and writhing in the flames asked to bo shot. The roof, however, noon fell on his head, killing him. One of the rescued saw his family of ten burnt. Another escaped from the wreckage except that his foot was pinioned. Seeing the flames approaching lie called for a hatchet and desparately tried to severe his foot by chopping, when the flames over-whelmed him. The collision occured in a blizzard.
