Sydney, March 15. The boy QuinUm, who murdered Mrs Gregory, tho wife of a Westralian hotclkcepcr under ferocious circum. stances in her room in a Sydney hotel, where he had heeu engaged as lift-boy, was sentenced to death, with a recommendation to mercy on account of his youth, Dr. Palmer stated that the woundi had been inflicted by one in a frenzied condition, rather than by one who do. sired to kill Quinlnu gave his evidence in an extraordinary calm manner. He told how he committed the murder, without being the least distressed. He said he had to pay for his broth, cr's keep, and clothe himself. He aba paid a small instalment of his earn. ings to a money-lender from whom his mother had borrowed money. He stabbed Mrs Gregory as sha rushed at him. He retreated all tho ime. Whou he first went into tho room, nothing was further from his. mind than to use the knife, which wag in his pocket. The Government Pathologist said the boy was decidedly abnormal. Ho had him under observations in tho gaol, and he did not appear to have any emotion of regret or fear.
