BOROUGH MANAGEMENT.
TO TUB EDITOU. Slu, —As au old ratepayer allow me to express my hearty appreciation of the niauuer in which you have so fearlessly expressed tke opinions of tlie majority of the ratepayers, who are heartily sick of what has been done in the committee of the Borough Council. The best thanks of the whole community are due to you, sir, for drawing the ratepayers' attention to such mismanagement, and arousing interest in the coming Mayoral election. You will he rewarded by seeing that we are alive to our responsibilities in future. Wc want careful and judicious expenditure of our rates, and not the reckless extravagance, such as has been characteristic of the past. We want a Council which will start the pruning operations at the right end of the stick, and not do away with officers who have served the Council and Borough long and well, but those ollicers who are of no use to (he Borough. The present work at the Fire Brigade station is an example of the work of I lie administration, and if such a small job is to be so handled, lion can wc hope for any other work to be satisfactorily done ? 1. am sure that our Borough foreman is quite capable of doing all the " engineering " work at present required. That the Council will put the desire of the majority of the ratepayers into effect is the desire of U.ITKI'.IVKII.
