(I'ltoM Ol'U OWN ('OliltliSl'ONtHiM'.) Olorious weather favoured the annual sports, which were held on the Hoc. last Thursday. Most of the events were well contested, with close finishes, reflecting great credit upon that very popular himdicapper, Mr C. Ilumbal. The mile nice was particularly line, and the gallant ell'ort made by George Kiehards (limit), who was beaten on the tiipe, by inches only, raised the spectators to enthusiasm while (he win of liead (scr) in the handicap chop caused probably the greatest exeitemenl of the meeting. The biggest pi'ize-taker was (i. Stimpson. The niajpole wax a niiieh appreciated item, and the various mazes performed by the girls evidenced their careful training under Miss iiutcheson's capable tuition. In the evening the ball iu the Town Hall was well attended. Music was supplied by Miss McKciuie and Mr (1. I'asroe. Both financially and socially the day was a great success, fop which praise is due principally to the energetic lion, ■secretary, Mr 15. Ainoove.

Mr li. K. I'igott has sold his Wailoi 1 arm to Mr Mclvoy, of Dannevirke. Mr J'uniblefon, who recently bought out Mr A. ClilV, is away in Duncdiu to bring his wife and family to their new home. I'ulllic opinion is very much divided on the toll gate question. A meeting ol ratepayers is lo be called here, when an endeavour will be made to point out to the Clifton County Council the error of their ways, Buckingham's Limelight Exhibition, etc., ou Saturday evening, did not draw a very large audience. jN'e\t Saturday M'.icDormott's biograph h to give us a tIU'U. i
