Dunedin, March 13. The Liconsiug Committee election for Taicri excited a good deal of interest. The returns are not complete as four have yet to come to hand, but these are scarcely likely to effect the result. The No-Liccuse Party's candidates arc therefore fairly sure of election, their lowest candidates, Rev. Mr Boreham received 1210 votes, whilo Mr Blaekic, the highest moderate, re ceived 1116.
As the result of the election of a No-License Committee for Taieri, it is now assured that the full number of lioenses, three, will be abolished, and no conditional license, it is understood' will be granted for the Dunedin Jockoy Club's racecourse at Wingatui. Dunedin, March 13.
The Licensing Committee election for Waikouaiti excited a good deal of interest locally, as reduction had been carried at the local Option poll. The Returning Officer did not put the Local Bodies to the expense of opening the country telegraph offices, and the result is that only a few voturns arc to hand, but as these include the largest centres it is evident the No-License Party's eommitteo will be elected, as they have a lead of about 100 over the oilier*. Dunedin, March 13, Only a fair amount of interest was taken iu tho Licensing Committeo eloc tion for Dunedin City. Early in the day it was evident the moderates were likely to succeed, as the women did not turn up to any extent, and .the result proved this was the case. The number of votes polled was 7141, The whole of the moderates were elected, the difference being about UOO. Bur net, who hcadol the moderates, received 3900 votes, nud Rev. W. A. The Licensing Committee election tor Chalmers was keenly contested. The result is not definitely known, as four returns have yet to come, one from the North East Valley, Which is fairly hirije, not having been commuuicited to the Registrar ollicer. It is believed to be representative ol the other districts, iu which event NoLicense have secured four members and the Moderates one; the latter ai present heading the poll, due, uo doubt, to personal popularity. Thames, March 13. Considerable interost was taken in the licensing election to-day, and polling was heavy.
