PRISON REFORM.

Indeterminate sentences was one of these matters, substituting properly trained probationary officers for policemen was another, and a further suggestion was that the num., of juvenile offenders should not remain on the police records for every trivial offence. The Minister said he liked to hare conversational discussions with such Associations. He pointed out that much could bo done by looking after prisoners just released after serving sentence, and in this respect the Pri. soners Aid Societies had done more good than the public was aware of, He rather favoured indeterminate sentences. He did not think tliß Elinira systom had always been the success they were led to believe. The suggestion not to record names was a rather dangerous one. Becords were wanted, but it might bo possible, after a certain number of years, to craee the uanie.
