Mr F. J. Cowan, Clerk to the Kaponga Town Board, was in New Plymouth on Saturday. There is a probability that Mr Frank Glasgow, one of the most prominent members of the New Zealand football team, may be stationed at New Plymouth .shortly. Sir John Hall, iu repon.se to the request of numerous deputations which waited on him a few days ago, has consented to be a candidate for the Christchiirch mayoralty.

Commissioner Mclue, Chief Commander of the Salvation Army in Australasia, will visit New Plymouth on April sth, accompanied by about twenty officers. The local Army people arc arranging for big meetings in the Theatre Royal, and the Officers' Councils will also be hold. This is the lirst of these Councils to be held here, and it is expected that officers from as far south as Waugauui will attend. Mr and Mrs A. M. Skeales, of Aucklaud, arrived iu Rororuu on Saturday, the 3rd mst, in their motor, from Taupo, after a pleasant trip from New Plymouth, says the " New Zealand Herald." They left New Plymouth on the 17th ultimo, for AVellington, which was reached in good time. From Wellington to Napier was the next ruu, over the Riuiutaku Ranges, which was done without a hitch. The trip was continued from Napier to Rotorua, via Taupo, Wairakei, and Waiotapu.
