THE NEW HEBRIDES.
Meiuoubne, March 8. The "Age," in urging theunsatisfae. Tory nature of tho Now Hebrides agreement, says that as Parliament has been sitting it is quite certain that tho adjournment of both Houses has been moved to discuss the situation, especially the absoluto iguoring of the representations of every Federal Minister of External Affairs since tho Federation was consummated. Tho "Age" summarises the case against the settlement in so far as re« vealed by tho cables as follows:—" It has been arrived at without any communication or consultation with Australia or New Zealand. It deals with only ono question, that of land dis pules, and refuses Australia representation on the land tribunal. It lay* down no basis for rogulatiou of trtdo and sets out no code of laws outside the suggested communes. It continues the old dual control system, under which Franco will be able to further increase her hold on the islands. It ignores the expressed desire of influential] native rulers to be placed definitely uuder British rule.
