Sixteen competitors arrived from Hawcra last night for to-day's swimming sports. The stall' at the Moluroa Petroleum Works is engaged at present in lifting portion of the six-iuch casing for repairs.
The southern members of the New Zealand football team arrive at the Breakwater by the Rotoiti this morning. Owing to the heavy wind yesterday afternoon the Muratai was unable to make the Cape on her way south, and returned to the Breakwater for sheiter.
It is expected that the export trade of New South Wales in frozen mutton this year will be larger than for any previous year.
Nearly 25,000 tons of frozen rabbits were imported into England from Australia last year, the trade having trebled during the past live years.
A pair of ladies' shoes will be competed for at the euchre and bridge party this evening, the second prize winners in the two tournaments to play oil'. The prize is a gift from Mr R. Deare.

The Italian Minstrel Band, to play at the swimming sports to-day, was engaged because the committee could nol see its way lo pay the figure asked by either of the New Plymouth bands. This explanation is made in consequence of an accusation that the committee woulcf not support local enterprise.
