SHOOTING.
THE TEENTHAM MEETING. Tbkntium, March 6. Mr Seddon wired, ugrcciug on the ruuge being named after lum, and that iu the übseuco of Mrs Seddon, Miss Seddon would present the belt and other prizes j further, that the introduction of 800, !)00 and 1000 yards mulches marks an important opouh in New Zealand, and that ho trusted the high standard of shooting would be maintained. He also promised any assistance the Association wanted.
The weather opened well this morning, but a tricky wind again rendered shooting erratic. The Nelson match which begun last nighl, was resinned and it was well on in the afternoon before the match concluded. Simultaneously with this match, shooliug at 800 yards, the first range of the Canterbury match, was being carried on. Colonel Collins hinted iu his
remarks yesterday that it would take the whole) day to complete the long range distance with only twelve targets, and so it proved. Those who began at HOO yards, when finished, proceeded to the tiOO ,and 700 yards and finished the Nelson mutch, and vice versa Those who were not down at either match were put on the Moving Target match, which continues throughout the meeting, and its result will not be known until about Saturday. After the Nelson match the Welliugtou match, ton shots at 600 and 700 yards was startdd. The competitors have liad really heavy shooting during the whole day from 8 a.m to (i p.m., with only a brief respite for lunch, MajorGeneral Babington visited the range and expressed himself pleased at the improvements on the range.
