In the report of the committee on temperance and morals submitted to the Methodist Conference, was the following clause : " There is much disregard of Sunday as a day of rest and devotion. A olunteer authorities are frequent offenders iu this respect. We must jealously preserve the day, and resist anything that would tend to its secularisation.

A committee on public morals was elected, and the following resolutions was passed : " This Conference, representing the Methodist Church of Xew Zealand, respectfully request the Authorities responsible for the management ol the Xcw Zealand Exhibition, to be opened in Christcliureli in November 11)0(1, (1), That provision be made in connection with the opening

ceremony, for the recognition of God ; (2) That the Exhibition be closed on Sundays; (8) That no license be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquor on the Exhibition Grounds. The next conference is to meet in Christcliureli iu 11)07, the date to lie lixed by the President. The thanks of the conference were heartily given to the eonferencc oflicci's, press, and those who so heartily entertained ministers and lay members.
