LICENSING ELECTIONS.
Taranaki.—Tlie following Committee lias been elected -.-Messrs ,1. 13. Council, J. S. McKellai', \\\ L. Newman, H. J. H. Okey and W. Auibury. I'EU I'ttliSS ASSOCIATION, Danseviukk, March 5. The tollowing have been nominated for the VVaipawa Licensing Committee : —C. E. Baiues, S. Franklin, L. McKay, A. W. Skeruum, 6. Wratt, A. \V. Collett, liev, A. Grant, C, H. I'ettersen, Pastor Bice, C. C. Smith. The latter five are the nominees of the Prohibition party. 'Waxisaxh, March 5. The present Licensing Committee lias been re-elected, there having liecn no other candidates. Hawaiia, Maivh 5. In the llawcra Licensing District a compromise was effected between the .Vo-lii-en.se and liquor parties whereby the latter have three and the former two members oil the Committee. The Licensed \ ictuallers have agreed to ten o'clock licenses.
CuiiisTciii iicii, March 5. There will he no election for the Ivaiapoi Licensing Committee, only the requisite number having been nominated. The Committee's views arc said to be moderate. Selwyn Committee has been reelected, and no nominations have been made for Hurtiniii. Hokitika, March 5. It is unlikely that there will he any ; licensing election contest in AVcslland, For the Westland Licensing Committee five Moderates and three Prohibitionists were nominated. It is understood, however, that subsequently an arrangement was made by which two Moderates and one Prohibitionist, will retire, making an election unnecessary. Gueviuh "ni, March 5. Ihe members ot the old Licensing Bench were declared elected unopposed to-day. UuxJiDix, March 5. Seven nominations have been received for the Cavcrshuni Licensing Committee. For Bruce there will be no contest, the No-license parly's nominees having been accejitcd. The Moderate and No-lieonse parties have each nominated a full committee for Waikouaiti, where reduction was carried. Palmekston Noimr, March 5. Sir moderates, two iudependants, and four straight-out prohibitionists have beeu nominated for Ike Licensing Committee here. N.u'imi, March 5, The nominations for the Licensing Committees for Napier and Hawkc's [ Bay has resulted in the return of the old committees. Both committees are of moderate views. The NoLicense party did not put forward any candidates in either district ami the committees were elected unopposed.
