METHODIST CONFERENCE.
TBIi MESS ASSOCIATION. Dunemn, February 28. At the Methodist Conference, a resolution was passed rejoicing that at the opening of the British Parliament the speech from the Throne, gave assurance of an amendment of the Education Act, aud trusting that its unjust clauses would be removed. The principle of a motion to draw up a scheme for providing a more uniform and adequate salary for ministers in poor circumstances, was approved and a committee appointed to report at next conference. *The request of the Auckland education property trustees to bring a friendly suit in the Supreme Court for directions as to the administration of the Grafton Road aud Three Kings education trust was approved. Members of the Conference aud friends were entertained at afternoon tea by the Otago ladies auxiliary of the Methodist Foreign Missions.

Mr Guuiess, Speaker of the House of Representatives, sent a telegram to the President expressing pleasure at his election to the chair of the Coufcreuec. Rev. E. P. Blamires and Mr A. C, Canghcy who arc visiting the Old Country were appointed representatives to the British and Irish Conferences, meeting in July. The Rev. J, X. Buttle reported the income for Foreign Missions was £1982. There has been a substantial increase all along the line. Bev. Burton was thanked for his splendid services in New Zealand as Foreign Mission deputation, and tlio anonymous Christchurch donor of the mission schooner " Privateer " was thanked for his valuable gift to the South Seas Mission. Rev. J. N'. Buttle was appointed Foreign Mission Secretary. There was a lengthy discussion on the relation of children to the church. The sum of £209. part prolits from the sale of the new hymn book, was voted to I the capital of the special branch of the Church Loan Fund, for the purchase of church sites.
