Balfour is suffering j from a severe chill, and Mr .). Chamberlain is indisposed. Llr Jatnes Murray (Liberal) has replaced Mr Aunand (who recently died) for Aberdeen East. He was elected unopposed.
SOUTH AFUICAN AUTONOMY. I FISCAL DEBATE POSTPONED. "HAMLET AND THE GHOST" MISSING. ■ Ucccived 1, 8.55 p.m. London, March 1. ■Winston Churchill in, the course of a speech said that as the Transvaal and Orangia had so recently emerged from war, nil questions concerning the raising of armed forces, must, in the interest of peace and order, be reserved for special treatment. It was hoped that responsible Government would be granted in both cases as far as possible simultaneously.
Austin Chamberlain asked for a postponement of the liseal debate owing to absence of the Opposition Leaders, Right Hon. H Asquilh, agreeing, remarked that the debate otherwise Mould be like Hamlet, with neither a Prince of Denmark or a ghost. He would not presume to allocate the two parts. (Laughter).
