MORE IMPERIAL BLUFF. Received 27, 1.12 a.m. MKLuoritxn, February 20. Regarding the offer of the Admiralty to replace the Powerful by the Mommouth, the " Age" saysAt first sight, it looked like a magnanimous admission of a technical breach of the naval agreement having been committed, and an endeavor on the part of the Admiralty to atone for it. On examination, however, the offer of a vessel of the Monmouth type, turns out to be an audacious attempt at bluff on the part of the Admiralty. The upshot, therefore, is that the Commonwealth Government, after communication with the New Zealand Government, has practically rejected the offer, and a despatch to that effect is now on its way to the Imperial authorities. It appears the Monmouth type is inferior, aud the Commonwealth would do better to put u_i with the protected cruiser l'uwerlul than take the inferior armoured Monmouth.
