AGRICULTURAL RETURNS.
TEH I'KKSS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, February 11. The agricultural returns collected by tin; enumerators early in October have now been summarised, and are set out in a Gazette published this evening. The area under wheat for threshing was 222,1)05 acres, a decrease of 35,050 acres, and for (dialling 00(1, a decrease of 275 acres ; oats for threshing 300,501) acres, and for chaffing 238,087 acres, show an increase of 18,380 and 31,1138 acres respectively. There is an increase of 713 acres in area under barley. The number of horses in the colony is 320,1)00, an increase of 12,1110; cattle 1,810,1)30, an increase of 71,1)80 ; sheep 1i),130,875, an increase of 850,009; swine 2111,727, a decrease of 5,5113.
