THE LAND SCANDALS.

WILLIS' EXTRADICTION. NEW SANCTUARY FOR LAWBREAKERS. Received 13,10.52 p.m. Sydney, February 13. The Government lias received conArmation of the dismissal of the application for the extraction of Willis from Natal, on the ground that there was no evidence showing that the Magistrate had powers similar to a Bow-street Magistrate. There was no local statute giving the Magistrate special jurisdiction under the Fugitive Offenders' Act. The decision is far reaching, as it creates a sanctuary in Natal until fresh legislation is passed.
