TARANAKI COUNTY COUNCIL.
SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the Taraitaki County Council was held on Monday, when there were present: Mr 0. V. Tate (chairman), Crs. Adlani. Hill, C. Andrews, Julian, Hopson, Brown and Stevens. , It was decided to call fresh applications for the position of engineer to the whole County, on conditions drawn up by a committee consisting of the Chairman and Crs, Stevens and Adhiin, a-id approved by the Council. Uuj tax. Tenders for the collection of dog tax were accepted: Omnia riding, 11. Warren. ;Ud per dog; Waitara Hiding: 11. Ward, Sentry Hill. :]■< per dog; Moa Hiding; 11. Warren, 3d per dog. The tender of T. King and Co., Strutlord, U for'dog collars, and iid for relabelling old collars, was accepted. Morris Cli, without prejudice, in full settlement of his claim in connection with the Omnia toll-gate house. II wns resolved to nslc Mr Klhriu to forward direct particulars as to damages alleged lo be caused to his fences.
It was decided to make application lo (he Treasury for .t1.2(10 loan for Tapuae bridge, rait I for Oakurn bridge, and .t 1,001) for Manganui bridge on Tariki Road.
The Ivngineer's report on Ihe Wiiwakailio bridge (already publi died) [was held over 111 l next meeting for T.irr.iii nion ITIOX. Messrs P.iyley and Solo, contractors for metalling at the Tapuae, are to be given seven days' notice" lo proceed with their contract, otherwise deposit will be forfeited.
Failing the contractors iiccepliug, it !was resolved to call alternate tenders (a) for stone from Tapuae beach and (l.i) stone from the Oakurn river bench, returnable u( next meeting.
