Regarding the prominent Friendly Soi iety ullicialsaid to have left C'hrist- • church, ostensibly for a holiday, and not returned, it is staled now that he was secretary of two lodges for a number of years. One was an Order embracing n considerable portion of Canturbiir.v. and the other though not a strong lodge was one that receives fair amount of money annually. When the books were audited after the man's departure, only two deficiencies were % it is stated, found, raid these were for minor sums. Money received for no. 2 lodge was found to be acknowledged receipt form of No. 1 lodge., and mortgages which ought to have been considerably reduced arc little, if anything, less than w hen they w ere negotiated. It is understood that a w arrant has been issued for the absconder's arrest.
